Well, I harped on a friend of mine the other day because they didn’t do a negative keyword list. Everyone knows how important these are right? Especially for adwords and ppc. Why pay for clicks you can’t even use. You want targeted traffic.

Today I was going through my campaign trying to figure out why in the world different keywords were not even getting impressions. I go into an adgroup (usually I just look at them on the adgroup level, because of the whole one keyword per adgroup setup) and I realize this word isn’t working because of the negative keyword list.

So I went straight to my negative list and lo and behold there is the word that is blocking about 10-15 of my keywords. I turned it off, but what a difference that is going to make to my testing. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.

I now only have around 120+ keywords active. Testing has helped me get rid of a lot of them. It sucks to through money out the window to see what will work, but I guess that is the name of the game with ppc.
