I am Red HOTT!

By PPC Mom

I had my campaign all set up and running quite well. I went to my site to see if there was anything I should change yet. When I come across the following problems:

First- I am using a system with index.php and so every keyword is tracked separately Google Analytics take every click as a different click from a different page. So when I go to content overlay I don’t see crap for stats. Meaning I dont know what to change, or where people are clicking. Google is showing I have 0% CTR but Im still getting sales?

Second, I click on my affiliate link to go to the page and look around, well guess what, my link doesnt work. Dont think I didnt work on this when I started. I was very careful to make sure my links worked.

Apparently though the clickbank product owner changed some things and neglected to tell affiliates. Then after I change the links so that do work I login a few hours later and the whole site (theirs) is down, so still I can’t get any sales.

I paid for 2 days to send traffic here while I didn’t get crap for it. Im more than annoyed.

After that all happened, I thought today couldn’t get worse, but Direct Tracking went down while I wasnt home and of course I lost more money. What a wonderful couple of days for PPC.

At least tonight there was a Q&A with Amit, from PPC Classroom, I didnt get to attend but a good friend did and he blasted Amit with questions, I cant wait to listen to it.

I would just love to make some money with PPC after the last couple of days. My confidence on the other hand is tanking, any suggestions?

  • Hey Mary,

I feel your pain -- I got whacked by the Direct Track thing yesterday, plus I had the same issue with one clickbank product (Earth4Energy), plus I got a lead cap on a successful offer I'm running through a CPA co.

Some days are better than others...

But when I get down, I think about the 3 day period in late Dec where I cleared $6k profit via PPC, and it perks me right up... so keep your chin up and keep plugging!

I feel for you that's all very frustrating. At the risk of telling what you know and what you've already done. "did you use a landing page? If so did you capture your leads? If you were direct linking then it was a waste of money because of the things beyond your control. I've been there.

I'd suggest throttling down your campaign until things become more consistent. You might even consider adding another tracking service in case one is down. They don't go down to often, but if they are updating the sites or in the part of our country that's still in the state of emergency with no fema or a president stopping in they may have trouble restoring service. ie kentucky through the southern midwest. There's been
  • First of all PPCClassroom 2 is crap. Sorry Mom but thats the pure truth. I was a member of PPCclassroom 1 as well and cancelled my membership today. They can't handle the amount they had promised. The Q&A for the VIPs (I am one) is the only good thing but not worth the monthly $49). Definately stick with the Coach. Maybe you can grab a copy of Jeremy Palmer's "The Black Ink Project 1/2" which is striclty focused on long term affiliate sites. He explains a ton in very clear, good quality videos...

See thats a reason to do your own landingpages so you don't get affected once the merchant changes the URL. Its not an easy game and nobody said it is so keep your chin up and do another campaign - Valentine's is coming ;-)
  • For some reason your comment box extends way past the rest of the page area. Just to let you know, thats why I kept hitting enter in my previous comment.
  • I feel your pain on that one. I was in class as well when Direct Track went down.
Seeing as how I was sending quite a bit of traffic to my links I definitely lost a good
chunk of change because of it. Personally I've never liked Clickbank at all, I won't
even advertise my own products there. I just finished up an ebook on PPC but I
found a different system to use for it.

Don't worry though, tomorrow will be better. Just make sure you focus on the task
at hand and you'll be fine. Don't let a day like this discourage you, all industries
have bad days and this was a bad one for us for sure. We just have to bounce back.
