If your site gets more traffic, and people visit more than one page on your
site, then yes. PPC can help your overall ranking. But that is not the main
objective of PPC.
With PPC we are looking to send a flood of traffic to a website, product,
service, or offer - quickly.
It is fantastic for those times when you can't wait for your site to rank in
the search engines.

Hi Eric - Thanks for your comments about the site. I'm glad you find it useful. ;)
As for Wordpress, I have used the videos at this site to help me get started. There are tons of great resources out there, this is just the one I use. Let me know what you think of it. If it's not what you need, let me know and I will keep looking! Enjoy!

http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Lessons

When I launched my first website in 2007 I purchased AdWords without knowing a whole lot, other than I wanted to attract people interested in my topic to my website. I got some advice that PPC was an expensive an unnecessary tactic at that early stage of my online business. I ran the campaign for 2 months and stopped. But I'm quite certain the early, healthy level of traffic I received was as a result of those ads on Google. I now have a new site and I'm trying to build up traffic with regular posting, promos on twitter and other places (article marketing also planned). It's taking a looong time to get those numbers up. Since I came across your site (and your interview with Lynn) I'm interested again in PPC and would like to learn more from you re: effective resources.

Thanks Jen, and I'm really enjoying your site!

My attempt to retweet this post resulted in a redirect according to tweetmeme(which according to them violates there useage policies and so I presume the retweet won't appear. Copied and pasted from the Tweetmeme FAQ

Green

button_errorThis is caused whenever an error has occurred when looking up the tweet count for that URL. This may be because the URL has been blacklisted, our crawler is receiving a redirect, or we are unable to contact your site. This could be caused by our crawler timing-out when trying to retrieve the page (we have a very short time-out to ensure the button remains responsive). Ensure that your page loads successfully and quickly, and locate all the pages on your site where it works/doesn’t work before posting the details of your issue onto our forum.
White

button_holdingTo keep Tweetmeme fast and full of features we sometimes have to take the site down for maintenance. We show a colour-less button with a question-mark (?) when we do this. We always try to minimise downtime, and keep our users up to date on changes on TweetMeme on our blog.

Thanks for letting me know. I have tried to resolve this issue and I don't know what the problem is. The TweetMeMe button is working on all my other posts - but not this one. Very odd. I am looking into it now! And ideas or suggestions are most welcome!
