We’re going to change it up a bit here.

Yes – you’re expecting me to talk about PPC campaigns, Search Engine Ranking Software, Facebook Advertising – but NO! I’m taking a break for a minute!!  I am not going to talk about making money or ROI today.

Now, before you give up on me and hit the “back” button, just hear me out. This is a cool idea and I think you’ll like it.

QUESTION: When was the last time you gave something away – an unexpected gift – an you wanted nothing in return? How did it feel to do that for someone else? OR Perhaps you have been the recipient of an unexpected, generous gift? How did that feel?

ANSWER: It feels pretty awesome, and you don’t forget it quickly.

SOLUTION: 29 Day Giving Challenge at http://29Gifts.org

What is it? – This is a 29 day challenge where you agree to GIVE something (anything) away each day for 29 days. Your “gift” can be ANYTHING – a smile, a note or card, a phone call, a gift card, a check, a thoughtful email, etc. You can decide what you can afford to give, and what those around you need to receive. That’s the fun part!!

The challenge is to find something to give to someone each and every day for 29 days in a row. That part is not so easy. (Eek – Consistency!)  Do you think you could do that?

This challenge caught my eye because I was reviewing my Google Analytics and I saw that someone from www.29Gifts.org has been visiting me here at PPCMom.com. I wanted to check out the site that has been sending traffic my way, and I was immediately hooked! (This is another big lesson in gaining traffic, isn’t it? Comment on blogs in your niche and they will most likely check out your blog in return.)

I have registered to complete this challenge myself and I am excited about it. I believe by focusing on “giving”, we change our energy and the world around us changes too. Imagine the lives we can change, the impact we can have, if we take the time to look for “giving” opportunities!

Okay, so the big question this week seems to be

“How Can I Get Quality Backlinks to My Website?”.

There are a lot of tools and programs around that promise amazing things in terms of backlinks. If you’re looking to improve your search engine ranking over the long term, it’s easy to be tempted by promises of “automation”, “relevant links”, “instant results”, etc.

Should you use Search Engine Ranking Software to automate the process?

In my opinion, it’s difficult (or nearly impossible) to automate quality backlinks to your website by using a software program. Social bookmarking may get your website indexed in the search engines quickly, but the power of social bookmarking is not long term.  For long term success, you need a large number of quality, relevant links back to your site.

I’m happy for someone out there to prove me wrong. But so far, I have only seen positive results from hard work, quality content, and a few little search engine ranking tricks to help me along the way.

“What litte search engine ranking tricks?”, I hear you ask?

I use a 3 phase process instead of Search Engine Ranking software.

STEP ONE – MARKET ANALYSIS & KEYWORD RESEARCH

I use Market Samurai to track my own website’s search engine ranking and the websites I am competing against for a particular keyword phrase. If you click here, you will visit the “Dojo” area of the Noble Samurai website where you can watch videos which explain exactly what this software can do for you – including analyzing the links to your competitors sites! Seriously – you can see what sites link to your competitors, you can then go and get similar backlinks for yourself!

STEP TWO – QUALITY CONTENT

For my affiliate websites, I buy article packs from http://EasyPLR.com – I use these articles to produce high quality, unique content on all my sites. Specifically, I buy a pack of articles, re-write them and publish them as unique articles in the next step in my process. I am always in search of high quality articles and I have never been disappointed with these guys. PLR (Private Label Rights) articles are fantastic because it gives me something to start with. It’s hard work writing interesting articles, and for about $1 each, I get a fabulous head start from EasyPLR – Yes, Please!

STEP THREE – DISTRIBUTE CONTENT

Article Marketing Automation – Once I have a unique article with at least two links back to my website, I submit it using Article Marketing Automation. I use this service to hand spin the article myself (which takes awhile), but I am always pleased with the results. They then publish unique copies of my article on blogs relevant to my topic over a period of time. This is fantastic because it looks natural, the links are relevant to the topic of my site, and I can obtain over 200 relevant backlinks from every article!

This is my 3 phase process which (so far) has eliminated any need for Search Engine Ranking software. I know this is an ongoing process, and new tools and software are released every day.

Is your method of gaining quality backlinks very different from mine?

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Please join in the discussion & leave your comment below.

When you are just starting out with Pay Per Click advertising, it’s important to keep an eye on your PPC campaign management. Now, I know this can sound a little daunting, but don’t stress. It’s easier than it sounds.

The first and most important thing is your budget. When starting a new campaign, you can spend a lot of money very quickly. I always suggest beginning with a cautious approach until you can see clear profits.

PPC Campaign Management Steps:

  1. Start Low: Set an overall PPC campaign budget – in Google AdWords, Yahoo, Facebook, and Bing, you can set a campaign budget for each campaign. This is different from your overall account budget, and it is also different from the Pay Per Click bids (what you pay for each click on your ad). I usually set new campaigns to have a $30 per day budget limit, but you can start even lower if you prefer. $10 is fine too.
  2. Delete Non-Performers: Once your campaign has been running, and you can see clear results, you may choose to pause non-performing keywords, ads, ad-groups. If you choose to create new ads and/or add new keywords, I suggest you stick to your low initial PPC campaign budget. Stick to the initial budget, and keep testing new ads, headlines, images, ad copy, etc. until your campaign is profitable.
  3. Increase Your Budget to Test: Now that you have eliminated the non-performers, and conducted some initial testing, you can increase your budget a little and see how that goes. I suggest increasing the daily budget to $50 – or something you are comfortable with. If you have done your homework, chances are you will see an increase in profits with an increase in your spending. This doesn’t always work, however. So you are still in the testing phase. Remain conservative until you see consistent profit from your campaign.
  4. Open The Floodgates: Once you see a consistent profit from this campaign, you can increase the budget even further to maximize your potential profits. I would increase my daily budget to $100 to start with. If that works, and you still see an appropriate increase in profit, you can raise your budget even further. Your campaign budget is directly linked to the number of impressions your ad will receive. If you have a low budget, your ad is not being shown very often at all. This is especially true when advertising on Facebook.

Here is more information related to PPC Campaign Management Tools to help your business.

I hope this helps you see why budgeting is such an important part of PPC campaign management. I’m sure this raises several questions in your mind too!
