Putting Together the Campaign in Excel

By PPC Mom

Once I have all my keywords I bring up excel. Any spreadsheet program will work though. I grab my affiliate link and add a subid so I can do some tracking. This, of course, is if I dont have google conversion tracking on. Most links look like this: http://domain.com/subid=77889

Let’s assume I am also doing a direct link campaign. In the new spreadsheet the first column is Campaign, the second is Adgroup, third is Keyword, fourth is Destination URL.

In the campaign column, put the name of the campaign, I fill it to go all the way down. Next put in the keywords, I put the keywords in the adgroup column and the keyword column. Yes, each keyword has its own adgroup. The Destination URL is where I put the affiliate link.

Check this video to see how I give each keyword a different link

After that I import the keywords into Adwords Editor. Go into editor, and under the keywords select add multiple. Make sure you select that your columns already have the campaign info. Copy the spreadsheet and paste into the big white box, hit next.

Now I go under adgroups, select all and put a price on each adgroup (or keyword).

You have to add ads next… I will post that in a couple days.

  • This is freaking awsome! I thought it was practically impossible to track direct links. Do you know how long I've been looking for this information! Thanks so much!

Mary, excellent post as usual! I do have one probably stupid question. When you do see what keywords are converting well, what would be my next step with those words?
