I am project manager at a web agency in switzerland we have also purchased an project and the seller ripe me off. She sell same project, same design with different colors. Services and Affiliates from e-junkie.com. Check it out the auction at http://flippa.com/auctions/263.... She wrote: "..Video Review Service, PR1, $145/Day Earnings, Fully Outsourced, No Work Needed!" - believe me, I've earned nothing. I contact my lawyer.

Hi Anubis - Thanks for your comments. You raise some valid points. I always trust my gut instinct. If you feel like it's too good to be true, then it probably is. If you think they're scams, they probably are.
I do know that if you spot a real scam on Flippa, you can write to their customer service team and they will investigate immediately.

One of my sites sold for $150 only because I didn't set a reserve. It was (and still is) earning $35+ every month. So that buyer got a massive bargain.

Sometimes people sell sites because they're no longer working in that niche. My advice is to do some research on the seller. Chat to them on Skype. Get in contact with them and discuss your needs. There are many reputable sellers and you can find big bargains on Flippa.
Good luck!

Hi, I found this page when searching for info about buying websites with Flippa but I'd appreciate some comments about buying these sites. What are the things to avoid when buying a site? Alot of sellers at Flippa claim income but I'm suspicious about anyone selling a site that supposedly makes ~$50/mo for a few hundred dollars. Also many sellers say they're webdesigners/programmers and their business is making and selling sites, but are there alot of scammers mixed in?
I've never owned a website before so I'm very new to all this; I'm just looking into buying an inexpensive site to start.

Do you think so? Thanks for sharing your thoughts here. I appreciate it. You raise an interesting point here. Some might say that a website is only worth what someone will pay for it. What information do you use to determine what a site might be worth?

I have to say your site should have sold for more than $380. I am still working out how to get best return on Flippa because sometimes sites undersell massively there. Great ops for buyers there and sometimes good deals for sellers. Good luck with the next one.

Thanks Ryan! I certainly don't consider myself as "getting into the site flipping game" yet. I have only sold two sites so far. I'm interested in learning more about this stuff though. In particular, I need to know some of the simple things a person can do to increase the value of a site they're selling. Thanks for sharing your experiences here with us. I'm about to go check out your blog now for some good tips!

Congrats on the sale! I'm a website flipper myself (more of a broker for other people I should say), and if you are still new to this, its a lot of fun. So much to learn, so many ways to tweak auctions, etc etc. I mean, there are so may variables that can change a 200$ sale into a 2000$ sale. Good luck with it, I would love to hear how you go! Good to hear another fellow Melbournian getting into the site flipping game!
