So Many Variables

By PPC Mom

When it comes to ppc it seems so simple. You take some keywords, put them in groups, and give each group two ads, so you can test. As simple as it sounds there are so many more variables.

For instance Im working on a campaign right now, and I can’t decide if I want to do scheduled showing of my ads, because I heard more conversions are usually between 7am and midnight eastern time. Next I was unsure of whether I wanted to use search partners, and Im a bit annoyed that I cant find a way to have different bid amounts for search partners and Google.

I put the price in and was still getting impressions but I was only showing on the partner sites. I want to show on Google, because that is where you get more conversions, right? And I was already getting some great conversions on the search partners.

Furthermore its difficult because every change you make costs more money. To add to it, it seems like some people give the advice that if you don’t make money off a campaign right away then you should just move on, but Im wondering if that is true, what do you think, invest a lot and get tons of good data and make decisions, or invest a little and bail?

Negative Keyword Results

I have been monitoring my clicks of my site pretty closely, checking to see exactly what people are searching for that is bringing them to my site. You can do this through the cpanel of your hosting, it is easy to find under awstats. My question is, if you put in a negative keyword, how can it show up again in your results? Is it based on the type of keyword? Like if I have a broad keyword of ‘debt solutions’ and I put the word ‘great’ as a negative keyword, would it still come up if someone searches ‘great debt solutions’ if it is a broad keyword. If it is a phrase keyword could it still come up?

What do you all think? And does anyone know if there is a list of Google search partners or can anyone be a search partner?
